OBC Mainstage – Virtuoso Variations
The Orchestra Book Club returns to the Center for Arts at the Armory in Somerville for a thrilling concert exploring themes and variations in classical music. The concert begins with the North American premiere of Grażyna Bacewicz’ Symphonic Variations, a stunning example of 20th-century Polish avant-garde. Internationally-renowned pianist Tony Yike Yang then joins the group for Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, a sprawling development of the violin virtuoso Niccolo Paganini’s most famous caprice.
